🎹 Wearable Fashion Tech / The Met Gala Strategy Deck You Didn't Know Existed
The Strategy Deck #001 / Marketing POV on what brands and celebs could have done from Louis Vuitton, Fenty Beauty and Doechii

🪩 Hello Runway Insiders,
Writing this from my desk with a glass of 🍵 and red carpet replays on loop.
It’s been a week since the Met Gala, and my brain’s been in fashion tech overdrive — not just judging the fits, but mentally pitching marketing strategy like I’m in the boardroom with every brand and celeb.

It was giving 2025. But honestly? It could’ve given 2050.
Welcome to The Strategy Deck, a special edition of The Digital Runway — where I break down cultural moments, beauty + fashion tech, and brand strategy through the lens of innovation and AI.
Not just hot takes. Business takes. With receipts 🧾
Let’s get into it.
But first…
🪩 (Re)Intro and Why I’m (Finally) on Substack
👋 Hi, I’m Janey Park — marketer, creator, and founder. I started as a Harper’s Bazaar intern, helped build Y2K beauty brands like Juicy Couture and Rocawear, and spent 10+ years across Asia leading strategy, marketing, social, PR, events, merchandising and retail ops for Lane Crawford Joyce Group and LVMH.
Later, I led marketing, growth, and web3 for a digital fashion startup that launched AR filters, phygital drops (H&M, Highsnobiety), and immersive experiences across IRL and the metaverse. I’ve got receipts, let’s connect on Linkedin. 🤝

Now I run The Digital Runway — a media network and advisory with:

🧠 Strategy + fractional CMO work for brands + artists shaping the future
👀 I claimed this handle in Jan 2024 but stayed on Beehiiv for design. But after seeing brands and creators like Chriselle Lim, Rare Beauty, and Justin Welsh jumpstart their journey here on Substack, I knew it was time. Done > Perfect.
Community. Discovery. Better conversations. Let’s build in public.
P.S. Happy Mother’s Day 🫶
Now let’s get into it.
💖🪩,
Janey

🎯 THE STRATEGY BRIEF
Missed Beauty + Fashion Tech Moves at the Met Gala.
The 2025 theme was Black Dandyism — and while some got it right, others didn’t do their homework the red carpet felt more like the Museum of Missed Opportunities. (see yearbook superlatives Met Gala Edition Part 1 & Part 2)
Here’s what happened… and what I’d do if I were advising the brands:
🎹 André 3000’s Wearable Piano
What happened: Wore an actual piano on his back to promote his new EP 7 Piano Sketches. Marketing + Attention Hacking Genius.
Marketing POV: What if the piano or his clothes played a preview of his music? A literal wearable fashion tech performance. ↓ Read the caption in this post for more.
🤖 Mona Patel’s Skeleton Spine + Robot Dog
What happened: A Thom Browne skeletal corset + bot, but not on the red carpet.
